Is the program licensed?

Yes, Eagle Overlook Recovery for Adolescents is licensed through the Healthcare Facility Regulation Division of the state of Georgia to operate a drug abuse treatment and education program.

What is the staff-to-client ratio?

Eagle Overlook Recovery for Adolescents will have a master’s level, licensed clinician assigned for every 8 clients. We have adopted this ratio to ensure that our clinicians are available to our clients to provide individualized care. The treatment team consists of the Medical Director, Registered Nurse, Clinicians, and Recovery Advocates.

What does a typical day consist of?

A typical day consists of study time, group therapy, psychoeducation, structured or expressive activities, and relapse prevention classes. Individual counseling, introduction to self-help groups, recreational activities, and appointments with the Medical Director are also part of the schedule. Weekends are also structured with activities to include group therapy, family education, family therapy, structured activities, spirituality groups, recreation, and visitation and/or passes.

Do family members participate in the program?

Family education groups and family therapy are an integral part of the program and family involvement is encouraged. Family education is scheduled for Saturdays and family therapy is offered on Saturdays as well as weekdays.

What is the length of stay?

The length of stay is individualized for each client based on their individual needs and progress in treatment. Each client will have an individualized treatment plan.

What is the facility’s approach to behavior management?

Clinical staff is trained in verbal de-escalation techniques, adolescent behaviors and attitudes, and positive reinforcement methods in lieu of punitive and negative consequences for acting out behaviors. Alternate therapeutic modalities to address negative behaviors shall be implemented by trained staff and shall be appropriate for the client’s age, intelligence, emotional makeup, and past experiences.

Is school/study time part of the schedule?

Yes; our clients have scheduled time for schoolwork on weekdays, during which a tutor is also available. Parents are responsible for working with their teen’s school prior to admission to coordinate arrangements for continuation of school work while in the program.

What activities are offered for recreation?

Clients will have the opportunity to participate in recreational activities such as ping pong, movie and pizza nights, exercise, hiking, and expressive therapies. Identifying and participating in leisure activities that promote sobriety are an important part of the recovery process.
